New Features and Enhancements in Extended Planning and Analysis August 2024

The following new features have been introduced in the August 2024 release of Extended Planning and Analysis.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Extended Planning and Analysis August 2024. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

Cloning Plans

You can now clone a plan to create an independent copy of the plan and its scenarios. This might be useful if you want to use an existing plan as the basis for creating a new plan.

When cloning a plan, you can specify the scenarios that you want to copy. The new plan contains an exact copy of each of the selected scenarios, including calculations and references to other plans and scenarios. You can also optionally clone cell comments.

Creating Plans from Plan Templates

Extended Planning and Analysis now provides the ability to create plans from plan templates. You can create a plan template from an Analytics data source and then use it to create a plan. Additionally, you can create a plan from record pages for other objects using the xP&A Embedded Plan component. Your administrator needs to set up the component to display on the record page so you can create a plan directly from a project record.

Displaying Planning Units

When you create a Planning unit, it is not automatically displayed in your plan. You can now choose how to display Planning units in a plan by selecting the Planning display type. The default option is none while the other available options are symbol and code. For more information, see Displaying Planning Units.

Updating a Plan with the Latest Data from Analytics

You can now update plans created from an Analytics dataset to get the latest changes from the dataset. This might be useful if the dataset was updated with newer data that you want to bring into your plan.

You can update a plan column, a plan row, or an entire plan scenario with the latest data from Analytics.

Using Allocations

You can use allocations to assign values across plan cells. After choosing the amount to allocate, you can spread it across your chosen columns using various allocation types, such as equal spread, percentage, and custom. For more information, see Allocations.
