Fixed Asset Process Management Overview

You can use the Fixed Asset Process Management page to create and manage fixed asset processes. A fixed asset process is a grouping of assets that share the same depreciation schedule settings. A single fixed asset process can include up to 10,000 fixed assets.

Viewing Fixed Asset Processes

To view all your Fixed Asset Process Management records or to create a new process record, search for Fixed Asset Process Management in the App Launcher.

To view the assets included in a fixed asset process, go to the Line Items tab on the fixed asset process record.

Details Tab

This tab contains fixed asset process information, including the depreciation schedule settings.

Information

This section contains the fixed asset process information such as its name, status, and description.

Deprecation Schedule Settings

This section contains the depreciation schedule settings related to the fixed asset process.

Line Items

This tab enables you to:

  • View the assets included in the process
  • Add fixed assets to the process
  • Remove assets from the process

Related List Tab

This tab contains lists related to fixed asset batch jobs and fixed asset process records.

Fixed Asset Batch Jobs

The Fixed Asset Batch Jobs list shows the fixed asset batch jobs that have been run for the selected fixed asset process. You might want to view a fixed asset batch job record to access logs created by the process. For more information, see Fixed Asset Batch Job Fields.

Fixed Asset FA Process Management

The Fixed Asset FA Process Management list shows the assets that have been attached to a fixed asset process. To use this list, you must add it to your page layouts for the Fixed Asset Process Management object. For more information, see Fixed Asset Process Management FA Fields.

Fixed Asset Process Statuses

This table shows the statuses that a fixed asset process can have. Note that you cannot change a fixed asset process status manually.

Status

Description

Active Indicates that the generation of depreciation journals for the fixed assets associated with the process has been scheduled.
Draft Indicates that the process has been created but contains no fixed assets and has not been launched yet.
New Indicates that the process has been created and contains fixed assets but has not been launched yet.
Completed Indicates that the generation of depreciation journals for the fixed assets associated with the process has been completed.
Fully Depreciated Indicates that the generation of depreciation journals for the fixed assets associated with the process has been completed and all of the fixed assets have the status of "Fully Depreciated".
Generated Indicates that the depreciation schedules for the fixed assets associated with the process have been generated.

Running Depreciation Schedule Batch Jobs for Fixed Asset Processes

You can run batch jobs for the assets associated with a fixed asset process to:

  • Generate depreciation schedules
  • Generate depreciation schedules and depreciation journals

Note:
  • To generate depreciation schedules for multiple fixed assets simultaneously, you must have the FAM - Depreciation Schedule - Generate and Export permission set assigned.

  • To run the fixed asset batch jobs, you must specify the Depreciation Schedule Settings in the Details tab.

  • You can run these batch jobs for up to 10,000 fixed assets at a time. This is a Salesforce limit. For more information, see the Salesforce Help.
