Using Dimensional Analysis
The By Dimension page enables you to perform dimensional analysis for each of your KPIs, based on your ending ARR or MRR. The charts displayed on this page contain drop-down menus where you can select and change the dimensions you want to analyze and compare.
The fields listed in these drop-down menus are derived from the Billing Contracts dataset. For details of these fields, see "Datasets" in Using Financial Analytics Dashboards.
You can add custom filters to this dashboard. To add a custom filter to the global filters displayed on the dashboard:
- Click Edit to enter edit mode.
- Click to open the global filters panel.
- Click Add Global Filter.
- Select the dataset that contains the field that you want to filter by.
- Select the field that you want to filter by.
- Click Create. The new filter is now added to the global filters.
- Click Preview to view your changes.
- Click Save to save the changes to the dashboard.
- Click Save to confirm the changes.
Using the Performance Indicator
As with the Waterfall page, the overall positive or negative movement in value between your starting recurring revenue and ending recurring revenue is displayed. This is calculated by subtracting your starting recurring revenue from your ending recurring revenue. This positive or negative movement in value is also displayed as a percentage variance of your starting recurring revenue.
Using the Stacked Waterfall and Dimensional Analysis Treemap Charts
If you click on a slice of the stacked waterfall chart, this then facets the data displayed by the treemap chart. This enables you to compare categories of data for your selected dimension and KPI from the stacked waterfall chart. You can change the dimensional analysis displayed by the treemap chart by using the drop-down menu.
For example, you may want to compare the performance of products by selecting the Product Name dimension on the stacked waterfall chart.
If you then select a slice of any KPI, such as a particular product in Net New, the treemap chart then display analysis for that slice.
You can then select the dimension by which the treemap chart analyzes your results by using the dimension selector in the treemap chart area. For example, selecting Account Name would display all accounts categorized as net new for your selected product.
If you select a branch of the treemap chart, this then facets the stacked waterfall chart and highlights the KPI you initially selected. For example, selecting an account name as a dimensional selector would then facet the stacked waterfall chart to display the net new recurring value of contracts for that account.
By default, the treemap chart displays the ending recurring revenue value for all sub-dimensions of your selected dimension.
With the exception of Churn and Down Sell, all values displayed in the dimensional analysis treemap chart are listed in descending order of recurring value.
Using the Drill Table
This table enables you to drill down to contract line item details, and through to records in the Billing Central application, from the data displayed by each slice contained in each KPI column in the stacked waterfall chart.
Clicking on a slice in the stacked waterfall chart or a branch of the treemap chart filters the contract line items displayed in the drill table.
Summary details for each record are displayed in the drill table. These are:
- Account Name
- Contract Number
- Opportunity Type
- Start Date
- Product Name
- End Date
- Quantity
- Recurring Revenue.
To view details of a selected contract line item within Billing Central:
- Click the contract number displayed. A Billing Central license is required to view further details of a contract line item.
- Click , then click Open Record.
- The related transaction line item opens in the Billing Central application.
