Adding Line Sets to an Estimate
Line sets enable you to group tasks and role requests on an estimate.
To add a line set to an estimate, in the Builder tab:
- Click . A line set is added to the builder and its Name cell is highlighted and editable. If you have selected a record in the builder, a line set is added to the first appropriate place within the hierarchy. For example, if you have selected a line set that is above another line set, the new line set will be added in the middle, after the first line set.
- Enter a name for the new line set.
- [Optional] Select or tab to the Start Date cell and enter a date. Records inherit the dates of their immediate parent records. For example, a line set inherits the dates of the estimate.
- [Optional] Select or tab to the End Date cell and enter a date.
- Click Save.
- [Optional] Deselect the Create Milestone checkbox to prevent line sets from being copied as milestones when creating a project from this estimate. You can do this by editing the record from the Estimate Line Sets related list in the Related tab.
Copying, Cutting, and Pasting Line Sets
You can copy, cut, and paste line sets by right-clicking the line set, then clicking Copy Rows, Cut Rows, or Paste Rows.
You can also copy and paste specific cells by right-clicking the cell, then click Copy Cells, Cut Cells, or Paste. Keyboard shortcuts are also available to use when copying or pasting cells. For more information, see Estimate Builder Keyboard Shortcuts.
Deleting Line Sets
You can delete a line set by doing one of the following:
- Select the line sets, then click .
- Right-click the line set then click Delete Rows.
Indenting and Outdenting Line Sets
You can indent and outdent line sets by right-clicking the line set, then clicking Indent Rows or Outdent Rows.

Setting Defaults for Independent Line Sets
If you add line sets independently of estimate products to an estimate, on the Estimate's Details tab, you must define the default billing type for them in the Independent Line Set Billing Type field. If you update the default billing type, click on the Builder tab to update the billing type for any existing independent line sets.
For independent line sets with a billing type of "Fixed Price", you must also define a default fixed price margin in the Independent Line Set Fixed Price Mgn (%) field.
