(BETA) Setting up Dated Resource Rates

Warning:

The dated resource rates feature is Beta functionality in this release. Do not adopt it except in sandbox environments. Further development is required to deliver a fully functional solution.

To set up rate cards with dated resource bill rates:

  1. Create rate cards as explained in Creating Rate Cards, making sure to set the Dated Resource Rate Type to "Bill Rate".

  2. For each rate card created in step 1:

    1. Create a dated resource rate with an effective date in the distant past. This ensures that a rate is always available regardless of how early a resource request or assignment starts. If you do not create this rate and a resource request or assignment starts before the earliest rate, an error will occur.
    2. Create the other dated resource rates required by the rate card. You can continue to add dated resource rates when the rate card is in use.

To set up rate cards with dated resource cost rates, repeat the steps above but set the Dated Resource Rate Type to "Cost Rate".

Assignment Field Sets

The Use Dated Resource Bill Rate and Bill Rate Card fields on the Assignment object determine if an assignment uses dated resource bill rates. You can optionally add these fields to the following field sets for the Assignment object:

  • If you want to make the fields visible on the Assign Resource to Project window, add them to the Assign Resource To Project Custom Fields field set.
  • If you want the fields to be copied from a template to a new project, add them to the field set identified in the Assignment Hidden field in the Create Project Personal custom setting.
  • If you want to include the fields on the Create Assignments from Project Tasks window, add them to the field set identified in the Assignment Editable Columns field in the Task-Based Resourcing custom setting.
