Creating a Blank Rate Table

You can create a blank rate table and build it from scratch. This is useful if the data required to build your rate table is not in Analytics.

Note:

Before creating a blank rate table, ensure that all the relevant dimensions are created in your org.

To create a blank rate table:

  1. From the Rate Tables tab, click New. The New Rate Table wizard displays.
  2. Select Blank.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter a unique name for the rate table.
  5. [Optional] Enter a description for the rate table.
  6. Search for and select the default Planning unit that you want to use in your rate table, for example, USD. The default Planning unit is used as a reference for all rates and cannot be modified once selected.
  7. Click Next. The Rate Table Builder page of the wizard displays, which enables you to set up the structure of your rate table.
  8. Define column-level dimensions. To do this:

    1. From the Dimensions panel, drag the dimension that you want to use as the top-level column group, for example, Period, and drop it into the Columns section.

      Tip:

Instead of dragging and dropping, you can click next to the dimension name and then click Send to Dimension Columns.

    2. Repeat the previous step to add more column-level dimensions, for example, Quarter, Year, and so on.
    3. If required, drag the dimensions around the Columns section to reorder them.
    Warning:

Ensure that the column-level dimension values created in the rate table match the column-level dimension values in the plan you want to apply the rate table to. To avoid conversion errors, you can apply a default column to your rate table that is used in case of any unmatched dimensions. To do this, see Inserting a Column in a Rate Table.

  9. Define row-level dimensions. To do this:

    1. From the Dimensions panel, drag the dimension that you want to use as the first-level row dimension, for example, Region, and drop it into the Rows section. Instead of dragging and dropping, you can click next to the dimension name and then click Send to Dimension Rows.
    2. Repeat the previous step to add more row-level dimensions, for example, Practice, Group, and so on.
    3. If required, drag the dimensions around the Rows section to reorder them.
  10. After you have defined the structure of your rate table, click Save.
Warning:

This step cannot be undone. When a rate table is saved, its structure cannot be changed.

The rate table is now created.
