Including Role Request Cost and Revenue Amounts in the Estimate Financial Summary

The Estimate Financial Summary provides a monthly view of total cost and revenue for the estimate. These totals include cost and revenue relating to role requests on the estimate.

If a role request has a rate card with a static cost or bill rate, the number of hours per month might vary but its hourly rate does not change. If a role request has a rate card with dated resource cost or bill rates, the number of hours per month might vary, and its hourly rate might change over the estimate's duration. Any variation in a role request's hours or rates is accounted for in the summary totals, as illustrated by the examples that follow.

The following examples are based on a simple estimate with one role request where the FTE (%) is 100%. In both examples, the role request starts on June 1, 2026 and ends on September 30, 2026. Eight hours are worked daily Monday - Friday, and there are no schedule exceptions. The number of working days and hours per month are therefore:

The role request is linked to a rate card with a static cost rate of 100.

When you generate the summary, the total cost for the role request is calculated by multiplying each month's hours by the rate.

The role request is linked to a cost rate card with dated resource rates. Initially the rate is 100 per hour, but on July 20, 2026 it increases to 110 per hour.

When you generate the summary, the total cost for the role request is calculated by multiplying each month's hours by the rate. Where a month spans a rate change (July in this example), the total cost for that month is a sum of the hours charged at each rate.

The period July 1 - 19 has 13 working days. Therefore the number of hours charged at the rate of 100 is: 13 * 8 = 104

The period July 20 - 31 has 10 working days. Therefore the number of hours charged at the rate of 110 is: 10 * 8 = 80
