Feature Access Rules

A feature access rule determines which forecast features specific users can use. You select which features the rule allows and the users the rule applies to. The corresponding actions are then hidden or disabled for those users.

Use feature access rules to tailor the experience for users who only need to perform a subset of actions. For example, you can prevent users from creating new scenarios, restrict who can send forecasts to Analytics, or hide formula-editing features from users who only enter cell values.

Controlling Feature Access using Access Rules

If no feature access rule applies to a user, that user can use all features granted to them by profiles, permission sets, and sharing.

If one or more feature access rules apply to a user, the rules are evaluated using a least-restrictive approach. If at least one of those rules grants a feature, the user can use that feature. This means that adding an additional feature access rule for a user can only grant more access, not less.

Note:

Feature access rules are evaluated alongside Salesforce profile, permission sets, and sharing permissions, as well as, cell access rules. A user must have the relevant Salesforce permissions in addition to any features granted by a feature access rule.

Features

You can use a feature access rule to grant or restrict each of the following features. The feature names and groupings in the Available Feature Permissions match the labels in the Feature Permissions tab on the access rule record page.

Default Feature Access Rules

Two feature access rules are created during the Services Forecasting setup process. You can assign them to the relevant users and activate them, or use them as a starting point to create your own feature access rules. For more information, see Services Forecasting Default Feature Access Rules.
