Updating the Time Periods Included in Practice or Region Forecasts
As part of your month-end process, you might want to exclude closed time periods from your practice or region forecasts to hide the actuals. Or, you might want to only see the actuals for the past three months and the forecasts for the next nine months. To achieve this, you can update the dataset filters applied when updating the forecasts with the latest data. Once the update process runs, any time periods excluded by the filters are automatically removed from the forecasts and any new time periods are automatically added.
To update the filters:
- From the Planning Task Launcher tab, click Update Filters. The Update Filters wizard displays.
- In the Filters panel, for Input Data Source, select "Services Forecast Live".
- If appropriate, select the relevant values for the Label, Category, and Sub-Category fields that apply to all your practice or region forecasts. For example, you might have a category named Practice Forecast.
- Click Apply. The Plans table refreshes to display all the forecasts that match the specified criteria.
- Select the forecasts that you want to update the filters for.
- Click Next. The Configure Dimension Filters page of the wizard displays. This page enables you to define the dimension filters to update.
-
Define the dataset filter for the time periods you want to include in the forecasts. To do this:
- Search for and select the Time Period dimension.
- Leave the Operator field set to "Equals".
- Search for and select all the time periods that you want to include in the forecasts.
- Click Next. The Configure Measure Filters page of the wizard displays. This page enables you to define the measure filters to update.
- Click Next. The Configure Dimension Value Mappings page of the wizard displays. This page enables you to define the dimension value mappings to update.
- Click Save. The filters are now updated. They are used the next time the process to update forecasts with the latest data runs.
