Creating Estimates from Opportunities

The Certinia Estimate Creation agent creates Services Estimator estimates from Salesforce Opportunities on your behalf, using the Opportunity Line Items to recommend matching Estimate Products and asking for any details it cannot infer.

Note:

This feature is part of the Certinia Early Adopter Program. This program is only available to a limited number of customers. For more information, contact your Certinia Account Team.

The agent reads the Opportunity record as page context when you open an agent chat from that record. To create an estimate for a different Opportunity, name it explicitly in your message. The agent presents an approval card before any record is created, and validates the estimate using the same rules as direct creation in Salesforce.

  1. Open the Opportunity you want to create the estimate for, then open an agent chat.
  2. Ask the agent to create an estimate. For example, enter Create an estimate for this opportunity starting on <start date>. To create an estimate for a different Opportunity, name it explicitly in your message.
  3. If the agent prompts you for additional details — such as an end date or values for required fields configured in your Estimate Creation field set — provide them in the chat.
  4. Review the Estimate Product recommendations the agent returns for each Opportunity Line Item. Accept the recommendations you want to include, or reject any that are not appropriate.
  5. Review the approval card that summarizes the estimate. Click Approve to create the estimate, or click Reject to cancel and continue refining the details in conversation.
  6. The agent confirms when the estimate is created, then creates Estimate Product Instances for each Estimate Product recommendation you accepted.
Note:

You can only create estimates that you would be able to create directly in Salesforce. The agent enforces your existing Services Estimator permissions.

Creating a Primary Estimate

Estimates are created as non-primary by default. To create a primary estimate, tell the agent when you make your request. For example, enter Create a primary estimate for this opportunity.

When the Opportunity already has a primary estimate, the agent tells you the name of the current primary estimate and asks for your confirmation before making it non-primary. Removing the primary status from an existing estimate also removes any records that were pushed to the Opportunity from that estimate.
