Mass Update Fields and Filters Process

You can use the mass update plan fields and filters process to update the plan fields, dimension and measure filters, and the dimension value mappings in all or for a select number of plans. This eliminates the need for individual manual changes. Changes made in this process cannot be undone.

To mass update plan fields:

  1. From the Planning Task Launcher tab, click Update Plan Fields and Filters. The Update Plan Fields and Filters wizard displays.
  2. Select Plan Fields.
  3. In the Filters section, search for your default scenario using the following filters:

    1. Select the input data source used to create the scenario.
    2. [Optional] Insert a full or partial plan name. Any forecast containing the matching text appears.
    3. [Optional] Select the category that the plan belongs to.
    4. [Optional] Select the sub-category that the plan belongs to.
    5. [Optional] Select the label assigned to the plan.
  4. Click Apply. The plans selected based on your filtering criteria appear in the Plans section of the wizard. To add or remove a plan from the list, adjust your filters and click Apply, or click Clear to remove all filters.
  5. Click Next. The Configure Plan Fields page of the wizard displays. This page enables you to redefine plan and data source information. These changes cannot be undone.
  6. In the Plan Information section, select a new category, sub-category, or label.
  7. In the Data Source Information section, select a new output data source. If any of the selected plans are not compatible with the new output data source, a warning message appears. Click the link in the warning message to view the excluded plans.
  8. Click Save.

To complete the mass update filters process:

  1. From the Planning Task Launcher tab, click Update Plan Fields and Filters. The Update Plan Fields and Filters wizard displays.
  2. Select Plan Filters.
  3. In the Filters section, search for your default scenario by selecting the input data source used to create the scenario. If required, you can also apply further filters, such as plan name, category, sub-category, or label, to narrow down your search.
  4. Click Apply. The plans selected based on your filtering criteria appear in the Plans section of the wizard. To add or remove a plan from the list, adjust your filters and click Apply, or click Clear to remove all filters.
  5. Click Next. The Configure Dimension Filters page of the wizard displays. This page enables you to redefine the filters applied to the dataset when retrieving data from Analytics. These changes cannot be undone.
  6. [Optional] Select the Override Filters checkbox. When selected, all existing dimension filters in the selected plans are replaced with the configured dimension filters.
  7. Redefine the filters. To do this:

    1. [Optional] Select the Override Filters checkbox. When selected, all existing dimension filters in the selected plans are replaced with the configured dimension filters. When deselected, only the selected dimension filters are replaced with the configured dimension filters.
    2. Search for and select the dimension whose values you want to filter.
    3. Select the operator used when applying the filter.
    4. Depending on the operator that you selected, do one of the following:

      • If you selected "Equals" or "Does Not Equal", search for and select the values.
      • If you selected "Contains", "Does Not Contain", or "Starts With", enter the value that you want to use.
      • If you selected "Is Null" or "Is Not Null", proceed to the next step.
    5. To add more filters, click Add Filter and then repeat steps a-c.
  8. Click Next. The Configure Measure Filters page of the wizard displays. This page enables you to redefine the filters applied to the dataset when retrieving data from Analytics. These changes cannot be undone.
  9. Redefine the filters. To do this:

    1. Select the operator used when applying the filter.
    2. If you selected the operator "Equals" or "Does Not Equal", search for and select the values.
  10. Click Next. The Configure Dimension Value Mappings page of the wizard displays. This page enables you to reconfigure the dimension value mappings. These changes cannot be undone.
  11. Reconfigure the dimension value mappings. To do this:

    1. Search for and select an Analytics dimension.
    2. Search for and select a dimension that maps to the Analytics dimension.
    3. Repeat steps a and b for each dimension mapping whose value order you want to customize.
  12. Click Save.
