Cloning an Estimate Pricing Method

Cloning an estimate pricing method copies the method together with all of its pricing variables and pricing fields, so you can create a variant of a working method without rebuilding it by hand.

The clone uses the same pricing approach as the method it was cloned from, and is selectable on the same records. To create a pricing method that uses a different pricing approach, create one instead of cloning. For more information, see Creating an Estimate Pricing Method.

To clone an estimate pricing method:

  1. Do one of the following:

    • From the App Launcher, go to the Estimate Pricing Methods tab, then open the pricing method you want to clone.
    • From the App Launcher, go to the Services Estimator Administration tab. In the Pricing section, click Manage Estimate Pricing Methods, then open the pricing method you want to clone.
  2. Click Clone Pricing Method. The Clone Estimate Pricing Method window opens.
  3. Enter a name for the new pricing method.
  4. [Optional] Select or deselect the Active checkbox to control whether the new pricing method is active.
  5. [Optional] Enter a description for the new pricing method.
  6. Click Clone.

The new pricing method is created with a copy of every pricing variable and pricing field from the method you cloned.

The Apex Plugin Class Name, Pricing Approach, Selectable on Estimate Product Instance, and Selectable on Independent Records fields are displayed in the window but cannot be edited. The new pricing method inherits these values from the method you cloned.

Notes:
  • You cannot clone the packaged pricing methods, which are Cost Plus, Time and Materials, and Baseline Pricing. If you try to, the message "You can't clone a packaged estimate pricing method." is displayed. Clone a custom pricing method instead.
  • Pricing method names are not unique, so a clone can share the name of the method it was cloned from. Use a name that distinguishes the two.
  • You need permission to create estimate pricing methods, estimate pricing variables, and estimate pricing fields, and to create the fields that are copied. Contact your administrator.
  • The standard Clone button has been removed from the page layout. Use Clone Pricing Method instead.

Cloning an Estimate Pricing Method from a Flow or an Agent

You can also clone estimate pricing methods using the Clone Estimate Pricing Methods custom action, which is available in Salesforce Flow Builder and Agentforce Builder under the Estimate Pricing category. The action takes the ID of the pricing method to clone and a name for the clone, and returns the ID of the new pricing method. If you leave the active state or the description blank, the new method inherits them from the method it was cloned from.

For more information, see Custom Actions.
