Creating a Project from a Template

Tip: To identify a project as a template project, select the Template checkbox in the project.

Creating projects from existing template projects is useful if you have repeatable projects, where the details, such as project tasks, milestones, assignments and resource requests are the same or similar. For example, you can add a budget but leave other details the same.

There are two editions of Create Project From Template: Classic and Extended. Your administrator sets a configuration option to determine which edition is used in your org. For more information, see use-extended-create-project-from-template-edition. The Create Project From Template button and the link open either edition.

Note: Fields are grouped in sections or by tabs, depending on the edition of Create Project From Template you're using. Depending on configuration, records on tabs or in sections may all be already selected by default.
Your administrator can edit several field sets to modify the fields that appear on this page. See Field Sets for more information.

Extended Edition

The extended edition enables you to find and select the right template by enhanced filtering and sorting, including sorting columns.

Note:

When Shield Platform Encryption is enabled in your org, you must be as specific as possible when searching for Shield Platform Encryption supported fields to ensure matching results are found.
