Activating a Purchase Contract

There are two ways you can activate a purchase contract:

  • You can manually activate a purchase contract using the Activate Purchase Contract button.
  • You can let a purchase contract activate automatically based on its start date.

You can only activate purchase contracts when they have a status of "Approved". When you activate a purchase contract, its status and the status of its lines changes to "Active". Once a purchase contract has a status of "Active", it cannot be deleted. You can only modify an active purchase contract by creating a change request. Activating a purchase contract manually

To manually activate a purchase contract:

  1. Click the Purchase Contracts tab.
  2. Select the purchase contract that you want to activate.
  3. Click Activate Purchase Contract
Note: When you activate a purchase contract, all its purchase contract lines are also activated.

Activating a purchase contract automatically on the purchase contract start date

After a purchase contract is approved, the purchase contract and its associated purchase contract lines are automatically activated on their start date. If a purchase contract hasn't got a status of "Approved" by the start date, it is not picked up by the daily scheduled process for activation.

Note: The automatic activation of purchase contracts and purchase contract lines is enabled through a Feature Console feature. Contact your administrator if you don't have this feature enabled.
