New Features and Enhancements in Foundations Winter 2024

The following new features have been introduced in the Winter 2024 release of Foundations.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, see Upgrading to Foundations Winter 2024. This provides a summary of the items that have been added for each feature and details of any required upgrade steps.

Feature Console OAuth Service

We have introduced the Feature Console OAuth Service to provide additional authentication while performing the Feature Console steps. This improves the accessibility and security of various services. Once you navigate to a feature step and click Perform or Revert, you are redirected to the Salesforce page where you can either allow or deny access to services and other aspects for a user. After this, you are redirected back to the Feature Console. You are not required to approve the Feature Console OAuth Service, everytime you run a feature step. The service is implemented with a single time approval process.

For more information, see Configuring the OAuth Service in Foundations.

Scheduled Updates

New Fields

We have added two new fields to the Schedule Details component of the major update schedules window of the sys admin workspace. The Last Date Choice Submitted is the date the selected schedule last changed. The Last Scheduled By field displays the user who last changed the selected schedule. Both of these fields are read only.

For more information, see Product Updates and Versions Overview.

New Data Storage Preflight Check

Updates require a certain amount of free space in the org.

Before Certinia scheduled updates are installed in a customer org, a preflight check is now carried out by the system to look at how much org space is required for the upgrade. The requirement is then compared with the amount of free space in the Org.

If there is insufficient space in the org for the scheduled update, an error message will display.

For more information, see Preflight Checks.

New Link to Certinia Community Release Hub

We have changed the release preview button of the Product Update section. It now provides a direct link to the Certinia Community release hub. Here you will find all of the resources for Certinia product releases.

Enhancements to Accounts Payable Automation

Note: This feature is part of the Certinia Early Adopter Program. This program is only available to a limited number of customers. For more information, contact your Customer Success Manager.

We have made the following enhancements to the Accounts Payable Automation feature:

  • Added the Scanned Payable Document Summary field that summarizes the invoice total, net total, and the status of the scanned payable document.
  • Ability to update the scanned payable document record based on its status. If the status is "New" or "Failed", you can update it using the Review & Edit button. If it is marked as "Complete" and "Discarded", you cannot edit it.
  • The scanned payable document lines have been made read-only on the line items tab.
  • Added validation checks when creating a payable invoice record from the scanned payable document. If the information within the invoice is incorrect, the processing of your scanned payable document will fail.
  • Preview the invoice document associated with the scanned payable document.
  • Review and update invoice documents attached to scanned payable documents on the Items tab.

Mapping Enhancements

Data Conversion Mapping Enhancements

In this release we have added additional data conversion capabilities. You can now map the following additional strings, ‘yes’, ‘y’, and ‘t’ to True and ‘no’, ‘n’, and ‘f’ to False on Boolean fields. This simplifies and speeds up the mapping creation process.

Additionally, you can now map Datetime fields to Date or Time fields. These conversions will be executed in the org’s local time and conversions from Date or Time to Datetime will be executed following the Salesforce default. This provides users more flexibility when creating mappings. These updates are available for the FDN Mappings component and Messaging.

For more information, see Mappings Overview.

Viewing and Editing a Mapping's Status

We have added the ability to view and edit a mapping’s status from the view or edit window of the relevant mapping on the FDN Mappings component. Only custom mappings can be disabled. This provides a more efficient workflow when analyzing and editing mappings.

For more information, see Disabling Mappings.

Managed Mapping Statuses

We have made improvements to the FDN Mappings component. You can now easily view which mappings are managed by checking the Status column. If a mapping is prefixed with "Managed -", it cannot be edited.

Additionally, even without permissions to disable custom mappings, the status column will be visible to provide the ability to quickly analyze mappings. Managed Mappings can’t be disabled.

For more information, see Disabling Mappings.

Horizontal Alignment of App Page KPI Cards

We have added the FDN App Page Cards Panel component that you can add to any app page. This component supports cards for the KPIs that are most important to you.

You can create cards panel configurations for app pages using the App Page Cards Panel Config Builder, which is available from App Launcher. You can then select the configuration in the FDN App Page Cards Panel component properties in the Lightning App Builder.

For more information, see:

Organization-Wide Email Address

You can set an email address for use by Certinia products when they send emails from background processes. Enter the email address in the Organization-Wide Email Address field in the FDN Background Processing Settings custom setting. It must be a verified email address listed on Salesforce's Organization-Wide Email Addresses page.

Note:

If you have previously created the custom field fferpcore__BatchSettings__c.FinancialForceOrgWideEmailAddress__c for this purpose, we recommend you switch to using the packaged field. Support for the custom field might be deprecated in a future release.
