Using the Hours Breakdown

The Hours Breakdown view enables you to specify the hours for each role request per week. These edits are saved to the role request's schedule record, which is automatically created when the Builder loads.

Notes:
  • The Hours Breakdown assumes a Monday to Friday working week.
  • Role requests with calculated hours can't be edited in the Hours Breakdown. For more information about calculated hours, see Calculating Hours by Percentage.
  • Your administrator can disable the Hours Breakdown and creation of schedule records. For more information, see Services CPQ Settings.

Default Spread of Hours

By default, the hours per week for a role request are equally spread from Monday to Friday in whole numbers. As a result, the days of the week that the role request starts and ends on are also taken into account. For example, if a role request starts on a Wednesday, the hours for that week will be less than the following full week.

Example:

This table shows how three different role requests' hours are spread by default.

Editing a Role Request's Weekly Hours

To update the number of hours for a role request per week:

  1. Select Hours Breakdown from the view switcher drop-down.
  2. Navigate to the relevant date. The weeks are represented by the date of the Monday.
  3. Double-click the value you want to change.
  4. Type the new value and press Enter.
    Note:

If you remove or add hours at either end of the role request, the start and end dates update to reflect the new hours. For example, if you enter 0 hours for the last week of the role request, the end date changes to the Sunday of the following week. Similarly, if you enter hours for the week before the start date, the start date changes to the Monday of that week.

  5. [Optional] Repeat steps 2-4 to update other values.
  6. Click Save. A PSA schedule record is created and linked to the role request. If one already exists, it's updated. For more information, see Schedule Fields.
