Manage Estimate Builder Columns Overview

The Manage Estimate Builder Columns window enables you to configure which columns are visible in the Estimate Builder grid and their display order. Previously, this configuration required access to the Lightning App Builder. You can now access it directly from the Services Estimator Administration page under Services Estimator Estimate Builder Settings.

Column Sections

The window contains the following sections:

  • Available Fields: The fields that are not currently visible in the Estimate Builder grid. This section lists all packaged and custom fields from the Role Request, Task, Line Set, and Product Instance objects, sorted alphabetically by label. Fields that are currently in the Left Side or Right Side sections don't appear here.

    • Search and filter: To find a field, enter its name in the search box, or use the drop-down beside it to filter the list by object type.

  • Visible Columns: This covers the two sides of the Estimate Builder grid.

    • Left Side: The columns in the frozen region of the grid. These columns stay visible as you scroll the grid horizontally. The Name column is locked to this section: it always appears first and can't be moved, reordered, or removed.
    • Right Side: The columns in the scrollable region of the grid. These columns scroll horizontally with the grid. The Right Side must always contain at least one column.

The Left Side and Right Side sections are always equal in width. Each section scrolls independently when it contains more fields than fit at once.

Supported Custom Field Data Types

You can add only custom fields of the following data types as columns in the Estimate Builder grid. Custom fields of any other data type don't appear in the Available Fields section.

Note:

Unsupported data types include Date/Time, Time, Multi-Select Picklist, Phone, Auto Number, ID, File/Attachment, Encrypted Text, Geolocation, Address, and Data Category Group Reference. Formula fields are supported only if their return type is in the list above.

Default Column Layout

When you open the window for the first time, the sections contain the following fields:

Note:
  • The Name column always appears first in the Estimate Builder. Start Date, End Date, and Hours must remain visible. You can move them between Left Side and Right Side, but not to Available Fields.
  • Changes you save in the Manage Estimate Builder Columns window take effect the next time the Estimate Builder loads. If the Estimate Builder is already open, reload it to see the updated column layout.
  • The Estimate Builder stores column configuration data on the Column Preferences object in PSA. For more information, see Column Preferences Fields.
