Creating a Service Contract

To create a service contract from scratch:

  1. Click the Service Contracts tab.
  2. Click New.
  3. Select the type of service contract you want.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Enter the Customer Account that the service contract is for.
  6. Enter the record that defines the length of a single service term for this contract. See Service Terms.
    Note:

    You can only enter an active service term record. Only active service term records are listed in the lookup.

  7. Complete the remaining fields on the service contract. See Service Contract Fields.
  8. Click Save.

To create service contract lines:

  1. Click New Service Contract Line in the Service Contract Lines related list.
  2. Select the type of service contract line you want and click Continue.
  3. Enter the product or service that the service contract is for.
  4. Enter the number of items sold.
  5. If you are creating a flexible term service contractClosed See Flex Contract:
    1. Enter the service term to define the length of a single term.
      Note:

      You can only enter an active service term. Only active service terms are listed in the lookup.

    2. Enter the number of service terms.
  6. [Optional] Select the Price Type for the line.
  7. Complete the remaining fields. See Service Contract Line Fields
  8. Click Save
  9. Repeat these steps for each service contract line you want.

Customer Quotation

If the Certinia SCM Advanced Quoting is installed on your organization, you can create a service contract from a customer quotation.

Note:

If your organization requires a quote to be submitted for approval before converting it to a service contract, your administrator may have created a workflow to convert the customer quotation to a service contract automatically on approval. Alternatively, a member of your contracts team can review a customer quotation and convert it to a service contract manually.

To convert a customer quotation to service contract:

  1. [Optional] Ensure that the customer quotation is priced
  2. [Optional] Ensure that the customer quotation is approved.
  3. Click Create Service Contract to manually convert the quote to a service contract.
