Updating Message Type Lookup on Messages

Tip:

You only need to enable this feature if you have upgraded to Foundations Spring 2021 and have previously used Foundations messaging. New customers do not need to enable this feature.

You can use the Update Message Type Lookup on Messages feature in the Feature Console to update your org to use the latest Messaging updates.

To enable the Update Message Type Lookup on Messages feature:

  1. Click the Feature Console tab.
  2. [Optional] Filter the list of features by application or status.
For example, to view all Foundations features that have not been enabled, in the Filters section, select "Foundations" from the Application drop-down list and "Off" from the Status drop-down list.
  3. Click the name of the Update Message Type Lookup on Messages feature.
  4. Click Perform to copy all message type information in messages to the new Message Type lookup.
  5. From Setup, delete the Message Type master-detail field (fferpcore__MessageType__c) from the Message object. For more information about deleting fields, see the Salesforce Help.
When you have completed this task, click Mark as Done.
  6. Click Perform to confirm that the Message Type master-detail field has been deleted from the Message object.
  7. Click Perform to add the new Message Type lookup to the page layout that Foundations provides. If you use custom page layouts for messages, manually update them to include the Message Type lookup.
  8. Use the Status slider in the Feature section to enable the feature. The Messages panel displays a summary of the changes.
