Upgrading Avalara Tax Provider

The Upgrade Avalara Tax Provider feature updates Foundations to use the Avalara AvaTax REST 2.0 API.

If you are upgrading and you use Avalara AvaTax with Foundations, you must enable this feature if you want to continue using Avalara AvaTax for tax calculation purposes.

To enable the feature:

  1. Ensure that the connection URL to Avalara AvaTax is registered as a trusted remote site on your org, and update its Remote Site URL to point to the appropriate Avalara environment:
  • Sandbox environment - https://sandbox-rest.avatax.com/api/v2/
  • Production environment - https://rest.avatax.com/api/v2/

    If the connection URL is not already registered as a trusted remote site, see the Salesforce Help for information about how to add it.

  1. When you have completed the previous step, click Perform to run the automatic step. This updates the Tax Calculation Settings custom setting to use the updated connection URL, and makes the changes necessary for Certinia to use the REST 2.0 API. When the step has completed, the Status changes from "Not Done" to "Done".
  2. Use the Status slider in the Feature section to enable the feature.
Note: This feature cannot be reverted automatically. If necessary, you can manually change the connection URL back to the original URL. For more information, see Tax Calculation using Avalara AvaTax.
