Setting up the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning Component

The Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning component is available on the Services Delivery workspace by default. You can also place the component on the following pages:

  • Lightning app pages
  • Lightning home pages
Note:

You cannot add the component to a Lightning record page.

Permissions

You must grant users the permissions detailed in this section to enable them to use the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning component.

Permission Controls

The functionality in the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning component enables users to view and manage their own skills, certifications, and experience. If a user needs to view or manage skills, certifications, and experience for someone else, you must set up a permission control for the user with the following selected, as required:

  • Skills And Certifications View
  • Skills And Certifications Entry

Object Permissions

You must grant users the following object permissions:

  • Read permission on the Resource Skill Request object
  • Read, Create, and Edit permissions on the Skill / Certification Rating object

Field Permissions

You must grant users read and write permissions on all mandatory fields. Users cannot edit non-mandatory fields that they do not have read or write permissions for. For more information on the fields, see Skill / Certification Rating Fields and Experience Fields.

Permission Sets

You must assign users the following permission sets:

  • For resources, assign PSA - Manage Your Skill and Certification Ratings
  • For resource managers, assign PSA - Manage Skill and Certification Ratings

Disabling the Experience Feature

If you do not want PSA to display the experience a resource has in using a skill in the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning component, you can disable the Experience feature by deselecting Enable Experience in the Skills Management custom setting.

Disabling the feature has the following effects:

  • Hides the Experience tab
  • Hides the Experience column on the Skills and Certifications tabs
  • Prevents users from adding new experience records

Enabling the Desirable Skills Feature

The Enable Desirable Skills feature allows you to specify skills as essential or desirable while creating a resource request and managing or updating resource skill requests, you can enable this feature in the Manage Skills window by selecting Enable Desirable Skills in the Skills Management custom setting.
