Envestnet Key Rotation

For security purposes, we rotate the client ID and secret keys on a regular basis, at least every twelve months. If a key has been rotated, its previous version is no longer valid and it is no longer possible to retrieve bank account transactions. To update your client ID and secret keys, depending on your version of Accounting and the last rotation date, you can do one of the following:

  • Rotate them manually using the Envestnet dashboard
  • Upgrade Accounting to the latest version

Key rotation is not required as part of your initial installation. If you are already using the Envestnet bank integration, check Upgrading to Accounting Spring 2024 for each new release for more information about the latest key rotation and the actions you must take to continue retrieving your bank account transactions.

Note: The rotation of Envestnet secrets does not affect access tokens. Access tokens are always valid so you can use the existing ones with a new secret to retrieve your bank account transactions. The Envestnet bank integration does not require rotating access tokens.
