Splitting a Sales Order Line Item

You can split a sales order line item to create multiple separate lines, which is often necessary when fulfilling an order. This feature is particularly useful when the ordered quantity needs to be sourced from different warehouses, allocated to various delivery dates, or fulfilled using distinct inventory positions.

By splitting the original line item, each resulting line can be managed independently for processes such as inventory allocation, shipment scheduling, and invoicing, ensuring greater flexibility and precision. While this process retains key details from the original line item, billing and shipping details can be updated.

You can split a sales order line item from the Sales Order Line Items grid on the sales order's record page:

1. Select the lines you want to split.
2. Click Split Lines. The Split Lines window opens.
3. Enter a split quantity and click Next.
4. [Optional] Enter new billing and shipping details for the new sales order.
5. Click Create.

Note:

You can only split sales order line items if:

• Their status is "New" or "Revised".
• The quantity billed is zero.
