Adding the Certinia Navigation Component to Utility Bars

You create the FDN Navigation component configurations using Navigation Configuration Builder and Global Navigation Configuration Builder, which you open from the App Launcher. You then apply a configuration to the component when you add it to a utility bar in new or existing Lightning apps.

By default, when you add the FDN Navigation component to a utility bar, the global Certinia navigation configuration is applied.

To add the FDN Navigation component to a utility bar:

  1. From Setup, open the App Manager.
  2. In the App Manager, do one of the following:
    • Create an app:
      1. Click New Lightning App.
      2. Enter the details of the new app. Click Next and enter more details until you see the Utility Items (Desktop Only) window.
    • Edit an existing app:
      1. Click Edit in the drop-down list for your existing app. The Lightning App Builder opens.
      2. In the App Settings panel, click Utility Items (Desktop Only).
  3. Click Add Utility Item.
  4. Select FDN Navigation from the Custom - Managed list.
Note: The FDN Navigation component can be added to the utility bar for any unmanaged apps in your org.
  5. In the Utility Item Properties section, complete the following information:
    • [Optional] Enter a label for the utility bar. By default, the label FDN Navigation is displayed.
    • [Optional] Choose the icon to appear in the utility bar.
    • [Optional] If the component needs time to initialize, select the Start automatically checkbox. This starts loading data when the app first opens.
We recommend that you do not change the panel width and height of the utility panel. The default width and height ensure that the FDN Navigation component is displayed correctly.
  6. In the Component Properties section, complete the following information:
    • Select the navigation configuration to display in the component. To use the distributed global navigation, select FDN Navigation.
    • [Optional] Select the Hide Navigation Sections checkbox to hide the navigation section labels in the component. For more information on sections, see Creating and Editing Sections, Groups, and Navigation Items.
Note: This checkbox is not relevant if you are using navigation configurations created in the Global Navigation Configuration Builder.
    • [Optional] Select the Show Search checkbox to display the Search field in the component. This enables users to enter three or more characters to find matches in the navigation hierarchy.
  7. Complete the addition of the component to the utility bar:
    • If you are editing an existing app, click Save.
    • If you are creating an app, click Next, select navigation items and profiles for your app, and then click Save & Finish.
