Adding Lookups on Revenue Management Objects to Your Source Objects

The Recognition Transaction Line object must have lookup relationship custom fields to each of your source objects. This is so that when recognition transaction lines are generated, they have a link to the associated source record. You must add these lookups before anyone uses the Revenue Management application.

Note:

All Revenue Management users must have read access to all your source objects.

To add a lookup relationship custom field on the Recognition Transaction Line object to your source object:

  1. Make sure you are signed in as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to Setup | Object Manager then select the Recognition Transaction Line object.
  3. Click New in the Fields & Relationships section.
  4. Choose a field type of Lookup Relationship.
  5. Click Next after this and other steps as necessary.
  6. Select the object that you plan to use as your source object.
  7. Tab out of the Field Label field.
  8. Specify the access settings of the field for each profile.
  9. Choose the appropriate page layouts to show the field as an editable field.
  10. Click Save.

Repeat these steps to add lookups on the Recognition Transaction Line object to each of your source objects.

Depending on how you intend using Revenue Management, the following Revenue Management objects might also need to have lookup relationship custom fields to your source objects. The procedure for adding lookups to these objects is the same as described above.

Performance Obligation Line Item If you intend using revenue contracts and performance obligations. See Additional Setup for using Multiple-Element Arrangements.
Recognition Schedule If you intend generating recognition schedules. See Additional Setup for Generating Recognition Schedules.
Recognition Schedule Line If you intend generating recognition schedules, you can optionally add lookups to the source object's parent object or other related objects. See Additional Setup for Generating Recognition Schedules.
