Creating Allocation Rules

This topic relates to the allocation rules created in Lightning. For information on creating rules in Sencha, see Managing Allocation Rules.

Fixed Rule

To create a fixed rule:
  1. From the App Launcher, navigate to the Allocation Rules page.
  2. Click New. The Select Record Type window displays. Select Fixed type from the options and click Next.
  3. The New Allocation Rule: Fixed window displays. In the Rule Name field, enter the name of the rule.
  4. [Optional] Enter the description of the rule.
  5. [Optional] Select Include Disabled Dimensions if you want to include the disabled dimensions when selecting dimensions in the Rule Criteria tab.
  6. Click Save. The new fixed rule is created.
Note:

If you select or deselect Include Disabled Dimensions in the Details tab, ensure that you refresh the page after saving.

Statistical Rule

To create a statistical rule:
  1. Navigate to the Allocation Rules tab.
  2. Click New. The Select Record Type window displays. Select Statistical type from the options and click Next.
  3. The New Allocation Rule: Statistical window displays. In the Rule Name field, enter the name of the rule.
  4. [Optional] In the Description field, enter the description for the rule.
  5. In the Allocation Basis field, specify the allocation basis. Ensure that you select a statistical basis that contains lines with a GLA defined. If the selected statistical basis does not have lines, either add lines to it or select another statistical basis with lines.
  6. Click Save. The new statistical rule is created.
Notes:
  • Once the allocation rule is created, you cannot edit the Record Type field manually in the Details tab. To change the record type, you must create a new allocation rule.
  • The selected allocation basis must have a general ledger account (GLA) in all the lines.
  • In the Related tab, you can view all the created allocation templates and you can also create new allocation templates.

After the allocation rule is created, you can define its rule criteria, activate it, and create allocation template using the rule. For more information, see Defining Allocation Rule Criteria.

Duplicating Allocation Rules

To duplicate an allocation rule:
  1. Click Duplicate on the allocation rule record page.
  2. In the Duplicate Allocation Rule window, enter the allocation rule name and click Duplicate. The allocation rule is duplicated along with its lines.

If there are unsaved changes, the Unsaved Changes window appears. You can perform any one of the following:

  • Click Discard Changes to discard any changes and then click Duplicate.
  • Click Save and Continue to keep the changes and then click Duplicate.
