Using Project Task Assignment Indicators
Indicators in Project Task Assignments assume:
- If a Project Task Assignment has an associated Resource Request, it does not have an Assignment.
- If a Project Task Assignment has an associated Assignment, any associated Resource Requests are ignored for purposes of indicators.
A basic error condition causing Project Task Assignment indicators to display are when the sum of all task hours associated with an Assignment exceeds the scheduled hours on the Assignment.
Red Alert Indicator Conditions

Project Task Assignment Hours | The Task has defined (zero or more) estimated hours. | ||

Examples of Project Task Assignment Indicators
No Alert Flags:
- An assignment has 40 hours and three tasks each with associated Project Task Assignments.
- Each task has 10 hours.
The Project Task Assignment's total 30 hours is less than the Assignment's scheduled 40 hours.
Red Alert Flag:
- An assignment has 40 hours and three tasks with associated Project Task Assignments.
- Two tasks have 20 hours and the third task has 15 hours.
The Project Task Assignment hours total of 55 exceed the Assignment's scheduled 40 hours.
Yellow Alert Flag:
- An assignment has 40 hours and three tasks with associated Project Task Assignments.
- Two tasks have 20 hours and the third task has 10 hours.
- The third task has two associated Project Task Assignments.
When calculating the total hours for the Project Task Assignments, any task with multiple Project Task Assignments is the total hours shared equally among the number of Project Task Assignments. The total calculated hours is 45 hours (20 for the first task + 20 for the second task + 5 hours for the third task's 10 hours divided by two Project Task Assignments).
The Project Task Assignment hours total of 45 exceed the Assignment's scheduled 40 hours. With multiple Project Task Assignments associated with the task, the distribution of hours is ambiguous and the entry is flagged with a Yellow alert.
