No Integration with Revenue Management

If you are not using the integration between the Revenue Forecasting feature in PSA and Revenue Management, you must make it possible for Revenue Forecasting to identify the records you want to include in your forecasts.

To do this, on relevant records you must select the appropriate entry from the Recognition Method picklist, such as "Deliverable" or "Equal Split: Months". If you want to include historical records, you must remember to set the recognition method on those records as well.

Note:

To set the recognition method on records that are used in Revenue Forecasting, you must have been assigned the relevant Revenue Forecasting permissions. For more information, see Permissions.

This table lists the records that relate to each recognition method.

Tip:

To set the recognition method on a number of records in bulk, you can use Salesforce Data Loader. For more information, see "Data Loader" in the Salesforce Help.

We recommend you remove the following fields from the Revenue Forecast page layout:

  • Revenue Recognized to Date: the value is always zero because this field is only relevant if you are using the Revenue Management integration.
  • Revenue Pending Recognition: contains the same value as the Actuals field so is not required.

For more information on the fields available on the Revenue Forecast object, see Revenue Forecast Fields.

Tips:

To configure PSA to retain actuals from the previous forecast run for any closed time period, select the Retain Pending Revenue in Closed Periods checkbox on the active revenue forecast setup record. Any actuals created in a closed time period after the period was closed are included in the revenue forecast for the next open period. For more information, see Retaining Actuals or Costs from the Previous Forecast Run in a Closed Period (Not Using the Integration with Revenue Management).

You can use the Date Marked as Closed for Forecasting field on the Time Period object to create a report to identify any records that have been changed after a time period was closed.
