Cloning Objectives

You can clone an existing objective using the Clone Objective quick action button available on objective record pages. This enables you to create new objectives and objective templates.

Associated records, such as success plans, playbooks, and playbook tasks are copied to the new, cloned version. You can clone playbook skills and skill sets in the cloned version if you have Create permission for the Playbook Skill object and Edit permission for the Playbook, Skill, Rating, and Skill Set fields on the Playbook Skill object.

Once you have cloned an objective, you are directed to the new record, where you can update the information as required.

To clone an objective:

1. Go to the record page of your existing objective.
2. Click Clone Objective.
3. Update the name of your new objective.
4. Select Template to make your new objective available for selection as an objective template.
5. Click Clone. The new objective or objective template opens.

Notes:

• When the objective only has one record type associated with it, the cloned values are copied from the objective's page layout fields and the fields from the Create Objective Fields field set. If the record has more than one record type associated with it, only the values from the page layout are cloned.
• All playbook task values are copied from the fields contained in the Create Playbook Task Fields field set.
• When you clone templates from non-templates and vice versa, the new cloned objective and any of its associated records are not associated with the parent records of the original objective you cloned from.
