Creating Expansion Opportunities
You can create expansion opportunities using:
- The Create Expansion Opportunity action in the Actions panel available on record pages, if your administrator has added the Actions panel to the page.
- The New list view button in the Expansion Opportunities tab.
Creating Expansion Opportunities from the Customer Success Management Workspace or from a Record Page
When you create an expansion opportunity from a Playbook or Playbook Task record page, the following fields are automatically populated based on the record context:
- Account
- Success Plan
- Objective (if applicable)
To create an expansion opportunity from the Actions panel on a record page:
- In the Actions panel, click Create Expansion Opportunity.
- Enter a name for the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Update the expansion opportunity owner. This is automatically populated with the currently logged in user.
- [Optional] Select or update the account associated with the expansion opportunity. This is automatically populated with the account when accessing the window from an account record page.
- [Optional] Select the products you want to associate with the expansion opportunity. Associating a product with an expansion opportunity creates an expansion opportunity product record.
- [Optional] Select the success plan you want to associate with the expansion opportunity. This is automatically populated with the success plan when accessing the window from a success plan record page.
- [Optional] Select the objective you want to associate with the expansion opportunity. This is automatically populated with the objective when accessing the window from an objective record page.
- [Optional] Update the status for the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Enter the predicted value of the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Enter a description for the expansion opportunity.
- Click Create.
Creating Expansion Opportunities from the Expansion Opportunities Tab
To create an expansion opportunity from the Expansion Opportunities tab:
- On the Expansion Opportunity tab, click New.
- Enter a name for the expansion opportunity
- [Optional] Select an expansion opportunity owner.
- [Optional] Select the account associated with the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Select the success plan you want to associate with the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Select the objective you want to associate with the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Update the status for the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Enter the predicted value of the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Enter a description for the expansion opportunity.
- Click Save.
Creating a Salesforce Opportunity from an Expansion Opportunity
When an expansion opportunity is ready for Sales, you can convert it into a Salesforce opportunity.
If your administrator has enabled the Enable Opportunity Window Product Field setting:
Any products associated with your expansion opportunity are automatically created as Opportunity Line Items in the new Salesforce opportunity.
If the Price Book field is included in the window, you can select a specific price book for the opportunity line items. If it is not included, the organization's standard price book is used.
To create a Salesforce opportunity:

Go to the record page of the expansion opportunity you want to convert.

In the Actions panel, click Create Opportunity from expansion opportunity.

[Optional] Update the information in the fields provided. The fields available in this window are determined by the Create Opportunity Fields field set configured by your administrator.

Click Create.
An Expansion Opportunity Instance record is created automatically to link the expansion record to the new Salesforce opportunity. You can view this link in the Expansion Opportunity Instances related list on the expansion opportunity record.
Creating Expansion Opportunities from Account Summaries
To create an expansion opportunity from an account summary:
- In the Generate Account Summary window, click Create Expansion Opportunity.
- Enter a name for the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Select an expansion opportunity owner.
- [Optional] Select the account associated with the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Select one or more products for the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Select the success plan you want to associate with the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Select the objective you want to associate with the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Update the status for the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Enter the predicted value of the expansion opportunity.
- [Optional] Update the description for the expansion opportunity, which is automatically populated based on the summary’s suggested expansion opportunities.
- Click Create.
