Creating a Budget from a Template or Opportunity

To create a budgetClosed An amount used to manage expenditure on customer purchase orders, internal budgets, outbound vendor purchase orders and work orders. A budget must be associated with a project. when creating a projectClosed A collection of activities and related items to be managed over a defined time range, such as timecards, expenses, milestones and budgets. from a template or an opportunity:

  1. Scroll to Projects on the regionClosed A level of hierarchy used in PSA to which other objects belong such as resources, opportunities and projects., practiceClosed A level of hierarchy used in PSA to which other objects belong such as resources, opportunities and projects., groupClosed A level of hierarchy used in PSA to which other objects belong such as resources, opportunities and projects., accountClosed In this context, accounts are organizations or people that you conduct business with, such as customers or vendors. Account is a standard Salesforce object. Certinia accounts can be any Account Record Type. or opportunity that you want to associate with the project.
  2. Click Create Project From Template.
  3. Select the template you want to use and click Select.
  4. Complete the fields described in Project Fields
    Note:

    Some of the project fields are completed automatically. If you have permissions to do so, you can edit these fields after creating the project.

  5. Complete the fields in the Budget Details section. For further information, see Budget Fields.
  6. Click Create.

    The project is created with the budget you entered.

Creating a Budget to Add to a Project

To create a budget and add it to a project:

  1. Click the Budgets tab then click New.
  2. Complete the fields described in Budget Fields.
  3. Click Create.

Creating a Budget for an Existing Project

Notes:
  • The main procedure is for users of record pages supplied by Certinia from Fall 2020.
  • From Fall 2020, if you are not using the pages supplied by Certinia, your administrator can add the PSA Actions: Project Financials component to the project record page.

To create a budget for an existing project:

  1. On a project record, click Actions | Project Financials | New Budget. The New Budget window opens. Using Classic:Closed On the Budgets related list, click New Budget. The New Budget page opens.
  2. Complete the fields, as needed. The fields are described in Budget Fields.
  3. Click Save.
