Project Task Assignment Fields

Here is a description of the fields on a project task assignment (PTA)Closed Associates a resource or a role with a project task for a defined time period. Use Gantt or Project Task Gantt to assign resources or roles to project tasks..

Key:
& – At least one of these fields is required in order to save the record.
R – Read-only.
AP – Automatically Populates, do not edit manually.

Field Key Description
Action: Sync with External Calendar   When selected on save, the project task assignment is synced with an external calendar.
Actual Cost AP

This field is calculated by multiplying each assigned resource's timecard actual hours by the cost rate on the timecard.

This value is rolled up into the parent project task and is always in the project's currency.
Assignment AP Lookup to the assignment on the associated resource requestClosed A means of asking for resources for a project or an opportunity..
Estimated Cost

AP

This field is calculated by multiplying the value in the Estimated Hours field by a value from another object associated with the PTA, such as an assignment, resource, or rate card. The calculation uses only hourly rates.

PSA uses the following criteria to determine the value to be used in the calculation:

PTA State

Value Used

PTA with a resource and an existing assignment.

 The assignment's cost rate.
PTA with a resource but no existing assignment. The resource's cost rate.
PTA with a resource role only, and a resource request and rate card for the resource role. The average cost rate from the resource request.
PTA with a resource role only, and a rate card for the resource role, but no resource request. The average cost rate from the resource role's rate card.

The calculated value is rolled up from child project tasks into their parent project task, and is always in the project's currency.
Estimated Hours AP The hours allocated to the resource on the project task assignment.
External Resource &
AP		 Name of a resource external to PSA who is to be assigned to the project taskClosed A unit of work or collection of work associated with a project..
Note:

If it contains a value, this field automatically clears when you come to assign a resource to a task-driven resource requestClosed Describes a resource request that has been generated based on information on project tasks and their associated project task assignments. If you use a task-based approach to manage your projects, you can generate task-driven resource requests on the Generate Resource Requests From Project Task Assignments page (accessed from Project Task Gantt, Gantt or the Project detail record).. The auto-update-pta-with-assigned-resource setting must be set to true.

Exclude from External Calendar Sync   When selected on save, the project task assignment is not synced with an external calendar and any existing calendar events for the PTA are also deleted.
Hours AP

The number of scheduled hours from one of the following sources:

  • The related assignment.
  • The related resource's preferred schedule or their requested number of hours.
Project R Lookup to the project on the parent project task.
Project Task R Project task to which the assignment relates.
Project Task Assignment Number R Record ID of the project task assignment.
Project Task Start/End Date R The start and end date for the project task.
Rate Card AP

For PTAs that have only a resource role, this field displays the rate card for the account, region, practice, or group for the resource role.

The order of matching the rate card to the account, region, practice, or group is defined in the Resource Requests configuration group option precedence-for-rate-cards.
Resource & AP Name of the internal resource who is to be assigned to the project task.
Note:

This field automatically populates with a value when you come to assign a resource to a task-driven resource request. The auto-update-pta-with-assigned-resource setting must be set to true.

Resource Role & The role of the internal or external resource who is to be assigned to the project task.
