Agent Cards Overview
When an agent needs a decision from you, it can display a card in the conversation. A question card asks you to choose between options, and an approval card asks you to approve or reject a change to your records. For information about the steps that an agent displays before a card, see Agent Steps Overview.
Question Cards
A question card asks you to choose one option from a short list so that the agent can continue with your request.
When an Agent Displays a Question Card
When an agent needs you to choose between a small number of options, it can display a question card instead of asking you in prose. For example, it might ask which of several matching records you mean, or whether to move an estimate's dates from its start date or its end date. The agent decides when to display a question card. It typically displays one when it can't continue without your choice and the possible answers are known, for example which record you mean, how to interpret your request, or whether to create a record or update an existing one. It asks in prose when the question is open-ended or when you ask for its recommendation. If there are too many candidates to compare, it asks you to narrow your search instead.
Any explanation from the agent, such as a table of the matching records, displays above the card. The card displays the question followed by the options that you can choose from. An option can also display a short description, such as a location, so that you can tell apart records that have the same name. A question card asks one question at a time, and you can select only one option.
Responding to a Question Card
You can respond to a question card in different ways. For more information, see Sending Messages to an Agent.
After you answer, the card displays the question and the option you chose. If you skip the question or reply in the input field, the card displays "[Not provided]". Once the conversation moves on, you can no longer select an option on that card. If your choice leads to a change to a record, the agent still displays an approval card before it makes the change.
If your answer can't be sent, the message "Your answer can't be sent. Type your reply instead." is displayed, and you can enter your reply in the input field.
Approval Cards
When an agent proposes to create, update, or delete a record, it displays an approval card. You can approve or reject the proposed changes.
Reviewing a Proposed Change
The card opens with a short summary of the change. Depending on the number of records affected, the card displays either the record names or the total count. Record names are displayed as links that you can click to open the record in a new browser tab.
The summary is followed by a detail section that is collapsed by default. You can expand it and review the full set of values that the agent applies. The detail section lists a numbered block for each record in the change. Within each block, it lists every field that the agent sets.
Partial and Failed Changes
If a change affects several records and the agent only updates some of them, the card displays the reason for each record that the agent didn't update. The changes that the agent applied are saved. If a change fails after you approve it, the card displays the reason. When the failure has a specific cause that you can act on, such as a validation rule on the record or a processing limit in your org, the card displays the cause for each of the records. When the cause is a connection, authentication, or configuration problem, the card displays a general message instead. If the change failed because it exceeded a processing limit, the agent explains what happened and asks whether you want to continue with fewer records or stop.
